YEREVAN. – Party system includes 6-7 million people in Armenia, if taken into account results presented by parties on the numbers of their members, ruling Republican Party MP Artak Zakaryan told the journalists on Thursday.

In response to the report whether it is true that more than 30,000 people became members of the ruling coalition member Orinats Yerkir party for the latest month, Zakaryan said that each party runs a pre-election campaign and tries to gather many supporters. It is absolutely normal. Ruling Republican Party has 130,000 members, many of them run active party jobs. Moreover, there are many supporters, he added.

While another Armenian MP from oppositional parliamentary ARF Dashnaktsutyun Lilit Galstyan said that Orinats Yerkir’s statement is similar to pre-electoral competition in the rhetoric. No need to take it seriously, she added.

Regarding the statements by Orinats Yerkir MPs towards the party leader and that the party stands for the upcoming parliamentary elections with a clear conscious, Galstyan said that biographies of many current MPs is too far from being indisputable. I do not consider it correct to comment on it, however, such people do exist, she concluded.
