Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban gave an interview to the Bild publication.

Here are Orban's main theses:

"What will happen on the front in the next 2-3 months before the US elections? It will get much worse. There are more weapons and the Russians are determined. The energy of confrontation and the number of casualties will become even more terrible than in the last seven months. Even though they were already terrible before. What lies ahead is far worse than we realize. <...> Both sides are putting a lot of effort into this. Even the Ukrainians have become more optimistic as they've gotten a lot of quality weapons. <...> So the main argument is human sacrifice. This is the most important moral motivation. But along with that, there is also the interests of Europe. Because what is happening is very bad for us."

"The situation is clear. Putin and Russia have launched an invasion of Ukraine. But I don't want to measure who is responsible for what. My task is to focus on how to achieve peace."

"I asked both heads of state and government: is there a possibility to agree on a time-limited ceasefire that will speed up peace talks? And then to proceed from the truce. Because now everyone is thinking the other way around. First to conclude a peace agreement and then to put the guns down. Both of them are not sure. Both Ukrainians and Russians answered the same thing as you did: that a truce is in the enemy's interest, because during this time he will be able to reorganize and prepare to continue the war"
