The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was unable to establish the motives of the shooter who shot former US President Donald Trump at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania, Thomas Matthew Crooks, even after more than 100 people were interviewed. All that is known is that the shooter had no defined political views and was bullied daily at school, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

According to its information, even after FBI agents have opened Crooks' cell phone, examined the contents of his computer, home and car, as well as and interviewed more than 100 people, it remains a mystery to them why he opened fire at the Trump rally. The agency points out that authorities were only able to put together a sketchy portrait of the attacker. 
To classmates, he appeared to be “an intelligent but withdrawn person who often walked around with headphones on and preferred to sit alone at lunch looking at his phone.” According to one of them, Crooks was bullied daily at school for his appearance. He allegedly wore strange clothing, including hunting gear, and continued to wear a mask after the coronavirus pandemic ended.

According to the AP, the shooter's political views are also unclear. For example, he donated $15 to Democrats on the day Biden was sworn in, even though he was registered as a Republican in Pennsylvania. The agency notes that law enforcement has yet to find any suicide note, notes or social media posts that would indicate why Crooks shot the former president.
