The National Committee of the Democratic Party (NCDP) of the United States intends to nominate American leader Joe Biden as a presidential candidate in early August, before the convention in Chicago (Illinois). The NBC television channel reports.

Earlier, it was expected that representatives of delegations of American states and overseas territories would name Biden as a candidate for the U.S. Democratic presidential nomination at the national convention of the party in Chicago on August 19-22. However, as the TV channel specified, the leadership of the DNCP distributed a letter among its members, which stated that the vote on Biden's candidacy would be held not at the convention but in a virtual format. It will be held between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7.

Many Democratic lawmakers oppose an early endorsement of Biden as the party's presidential nominee. They suggest considering other possible contenders, as the current American leader performed extremely poorly in the televised debates with his main political opponent - Republican Donald Trump.
