Ukraine is developing its own long-range missiles and is getting closer to their use, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in an evening video message to the people.

"Our missile program has good dynamics. And although this is a difficult task, we are gradually approaching the ability to use our missiles," he said.

According to Zelenskyy, the task of the Ukrainian troops remains the constant effective crushing of the Russian troops, their logistical support, as well as significant positions "not only on the direct front, but also on the entire available depth."

He emphasized that Russian military airfields and missile launch sites should be destroyed, as this would "reduce Russia's ability to continue the war."

Also, Zelenskyy ruled out that such actions will lead to an escalation of the military conflict. As an example, he cited the US permission to launch ATACMS missiles at a limited range over Russian territory.

"Did this lead to an escalation of tension? No. On the contrary, it blocked [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's attempts to expand the war. Did Putin respond? No," emphasized the president of Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, the less restrictions Ukraine will have on attacking Russian territory, the more Russia will try to move towards peace.
