With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and the initiative of the Film Industry Development association, the 7th Yerevan Short Film Festival will be held from July 29 to August 2 in Yerevan and Tavush Province.

During Wednesday's press conference, the details and program of this film festival were presented by Svetlana Sahakyan, Head of the Modern Art Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia; Guzh Tadevosyan, Director of the 7th Yerevan Short Film Festival; and Gosh Sahakyan, Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the Yerevan Municipality.

Svetlana Sahakyan informed that the audience attending the 7th Yerevan Short Film Festival will have the opportunity to watch prize-winning short films of prestigious international film festivals.

It is noteworthy that this year also the international program of this festival includes films from France, Indonesia, Italy, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, Singapore, and China, which participated in the competition program of the Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, Venice, Busan film festivals. Moreover, the opening film of the festival is one of the winning films of the Berlin International Film Festival.

The speakers informed that the 7th Yerevan International Short Film Festival received more than 700 applications from 85 countries this year. A total of 46 films from 20 countries (Armenia, Russia, Brazil, Italy, Czech Republic, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Greece, France, USA, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Singapore, Iran, Portugal, Algeria, Spain, and Belgium) were included in the competition program, of which 18 are in the national program and 28 are in the international program.

Film screenings, creative meetings, viewing-discussions, master classes, roundtable discussions, presentations, exchange of experience, and presentation of opportunities also will be held during the festival.

The competition program of the 7th Yerevan International Short Film Festival includes three categories: International Program: Feature Short Films, National Program: Feature Short Films and Documentary Films, and Student Program: Feature Short Film and Documentary Student Films.

Special guests of the festival include filmmakers, heads of film institutes, festivals, and various film companies.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on July 29 at 19:00 at the Center for Innovative Experiential Art. Exhibitions of the festival will continue on July 30 at AGBU, and on July 31 and August 1, the festival program will be presented in Tavush region. According to Svetlana Sahakyan, from the beginning the festival was aimed not only at the Yerevan audience, but also at the RA marzes.

The closing and award ceremony will take place on August 2. Admission to all festival events is free. The main sponsor of the 7th Yerevan Short Film Festival is Yerevan Municipality.
