More than half of French respondents have expressed their opposition to the appointment of economist and director of financial affairs at Paris City Hall, Lucie Castets, as the next prime minister of France. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Elabe sociological service on the order of BFMTV.

Accordingly, 58 percent of respondents believe that French President Emmanuel Macron should not appoint 37-year-old Castets—whose candidacy was proposed by France's left-wing New Popular Front alliance—to the position of PM. But 41% of respondents are sure that Castets is suitable for this position.

Also, 59% of respondents agree with Macron's proposal to pause during the Paris Olympics the debates on the appointment of the next head of the French government.

The aforesaid survey was conducted online on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 1,001 French residents over the age of 18 participated in it.
