The Palestinian Hamas movement has announced that its political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an Israeli attack on his residence in Tehran after he attended the inauguration of Iran's new president.
The movement has not yet said how exactly the strike was carried out, as a result of which its political leader died.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also announced Haniyeh’s death. A statement posted on its website said that one of Haniyeh’s bodyguards also was killed in the attack.
The Israeli authorities and military have not yet said anything about Haniyeh’s death.
