YEREVAN. - Armenian Parliament passed the bills on ID cards and biometric passports in the second reading.
Bills set out the main provisions of the issuance of documents. ID-card will certify the person in the country, the passport - abroad. A total of 304 thousand passports and 1 million ID-cards will be allocated between 2012 – 2016.
The law will be into effect from January 1, 2012. After that, citizens will continue to use old-style passports and get new ones.
