Armenian MFA presented a proposal to Armenia’s president suggesting to open an Armenian Consulate General in Marseille, France.

The question is included on the agenda of the governmental sitting on Thursday.

In the document presented by the Armenian MFA it is stated that the Armenian Consulate in Paris serves the Armenian’s of whole France.

The Armenian community is located in Paris (north), Ron Alpine and Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (south-east) regions. At the same time the largest Armenian community is in Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur and in its center Marseille the number of Armenians is around 100,000.

The consular service of Armenia’s Embassy in Paris is very busy. Besides for those who leave far from Paris it is not always easy to get there.

The Armenian Community in France has also presented many proposals on establishing an Armenian Consulate in Marseille.

The consulate will cost AMD 18 million ($50 thousand) annually to the state budget.
