US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he will mass deport migrants in the small Ohio town of Springfield, which has been hit by a wave of upheaval over Trump's claims that “an influx of Haitians are eating pets and park animals,” the BBC reports.

“We're going to start with Springfield,” Trump said Friday, adding that that city has been ‘devastated’ by immigration.

He also mentioned a second city in Colorado, which right-wing commentators falsely claim is “in the hands of a Venezuelan gang.”

Springfield authorities say the retracted allegation of pet-eating caused shock in the community and led to threats of violence that led to school closures.

On Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden called for calm, calling criticism of Haitians in Springfield “just wrong.”

“This has got to stop what he's doing. It's got to stop,” Biden said of Trump's statements.

The Republican candidate's promise comes after nearly a week of claims that migrants allegedly killed pets and children in Springfield.

The animal-eating allegations, which Trump repeated during a debate with Kamala Harris on Tuesday, were also denied by Springfield's police chief and mayor, as well as Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Three schools in Springfield were evacuated Friday because of bomb threats. According to Springfield Mayor Bob Ryu, at least one of the threats contained disparaging comments about Haitians.
