It is no longer necessary for American troops to be in Iraq, and the schedule for their withdrawal will be announced soon, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani said in an interview to Bloomberg, the latter reports.

"We found that the justifications [for the US-led international coalition's mission] have ended, there is no longer a need for a coalition of 86 countries," Al-Sudani said.

“We moved from a period of wars to a period of stability. Daesh/ISIS doesn't pose a threat to the [Iraqi] state," added the PM.

According to Al-Sudani, the successful participation of the Iraqi troops in the US-Iraqi joint operations against the remnants of Daesh/ISIS units in Iraq confirms that the country’s security forces can fight on their own against this terrorist group.

Also, the Iraqi premier expressed confidence that his country and the US will continue to cooperate in security and economy even after the withdrawal of the US troops.
