Russia will continue to clarify its position regarding Ukraine in its contacts with Iran. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, told this to reporters, according to TASS.
The spokesperson of the Kremlin was asked to comment on the statements by the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, that he is ready to discuss the Ukraine issue with representatives of European countries and the US.
"It is Iran's sovereign position. We [i.e. Russia] will continue to clarify our position and everything related to the conflict over Ukraine with our Iranian friends," said Peskov.
"We have quite a lot of cooperation [with Iran] in various domains. We expect that this cooperation will continue to expand," added the Kremlin spox.
Pezeshkian’s aforesaid words about Ukraine were previously reported by AFP. According to its information, the Iranian president also stated within the framework of the UN General Assembly that Tehran "never approved aggression against the territory of Ukraine."
