General Esmail Qaani, Commander of the Quds Special Forces of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is alive. Iraj Masjedi, Deputy Coordinator of the Quds Force, informed about this, the Fars News Agency reports.

Masjedi, referring to reports by some Western media about a supposed loss of contact with General Qaani and concerns about his health, on Monday added that he is healthy and actively working..

Masjedi rejected the need to issue a statement regarding Qaani’s health.

Esmail Qaani has not been heard from since Israeli airstrikes on Beirut late last week, two senior Iranian security officials told Reuters, the latter reports.

Qaani had traveled to Lebanon after the killing last month of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike.

According to one of the sources, Qaani was in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Lebanese capital Beirut, at the time of the Israeli airstrike which targeted Nasrallah's successor, Hashem Safieddine.

The Israeli army could not provide any information about the fate of Qaani, as they are still assessing the results of these airstrikes.
