The United World Colleges (UWC) network is about values, striving both for excellence in education as well as education for peace. This was stated by UWC International Council President Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro during the tenth anniversary ceremony of the UWC Dilijan International School.

She noted that she understood, from her own experience, that education for the sake of peace is not an easy thing to instill, and neither is peace easy to achieve, either, as peace is not merely the absence of war. "We all know that; these are not my own words. It depends on where you sit, but if you truly believe that peace comes from justice — which is what we try to convey to our students — then justice is never ‘just us.’ And this means that we will have certain limitations, even as we try to implement this concept," she said.

The President of the UWC International Council compared the activities of the UWC network to a journey during which one cooperates with a variety of people.

“Among them, we have had the likes of Nelson Mandela as president of the UWC. When we think of Nelson Mandela, we remember him as a man who went through a fierce struggle and came out stronger on the other side. When I think about one of our own founders, Ruben Vardanyan, I look to Nelson Mandela's life and say that there are people who go through the fire of life. By God's will, they come out of that fire and subsequently influence a greater amount of change. I have witnessed this myself during my own life," President Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro emphasized.
