The expiration of the gas transit agreement between Ukraine and Russia will not be a problem for Hungary as it will be able to receive gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said today, Reuters reported. “Turkish Stream can also help other European countries secure gas supplies, he said at an energy conference in Russia.”

The current transit agreement under which Russian gas flows through Ukraine to Central European countries expires at the end of the year.

“Turkish Stream” allows Russian natural gas to cross the Black Sea and flow from Russia to Turkey.
