Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the expansion of the visa-free regime with Georgia, according to which Georgian citizens will be able to stay and work in Russia without a visa for more than 90 days, informs Kommersant newspaper.

As per this document posted on the legal information portal of Russia, the visa-free regime is now applied to Georgian nationals who enter Russia for the purpose of working or for a temporary stay of more than 90 days, including for education.

The aforesaid decree enters into force from the moment of signing.

Previously, all Georgian citizens could enter Russia for a period of more than 90 days, except for those who came to the country to work or study.

Changes were made in the decree which was signed in May 2023. Then, the Russian president canceled the visa regime—which had been in effect since 2000—for most Georgian nationals.
