VILNIUS. - The Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Ambassador Janez Lenarcic hopes that Armenian authorities will send invitation in time to the OSCE mission for Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections observation in May next year, Lenarcic said at a press conference within the frameworks of the OSCE Ministerial council in Vilnius on Tuesday.
According to him, the organization has no standards on whom, where or how many observers to send. The mission observes the situation in the scene. In particular, it meets with the participants of the electoral process, including political parties, media, authorities and civil society representatives. It prepares recommendations based on collected data on the format and type of the observing mission.
“I would like to stress that we hope to receive invitation by the Armenian side in time. Meanwhile, we account on the cooperation and assistance in carrying out the observing mission,” Lenarcic stated.
