Russia has inquired Azerbaijan and Georgia about the possibility of importing electricity in the amount of 600 MW in total during emergency modes, Inter RAO board member Alexandra Panina told reporters on the sidelines of the All-Russian tariff conference, TASS reported.

“Yes, we have requested two countries: Azerbaijan, and we asked about the possibility of supplying Georgia. We are considering the possibility of imports, and we have asked the capabilities of two neighboring power systems to supply during emergency modes,” she said.

“If there are emergency modes, we, at the request of System Operator, would ask two power systems - Georgia and Azerbaijan - to keep under us, to be ready to supply us 300 MW each,” Panina added.

According to her, the company has not received answers from Georgia and Azerbaijan yet.

The Russian Federation will try to do without importing electricity, but in case of emergency modes can turn to the energy systems of neighboring countries, Panina said.
