More than 12,000 people with various illnesses need to be urgently evacuated from the Gaza Strip for treatment. This was informed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) mission in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

A total of 12,000 medical patients have accumulated and are waiting for emergency medical evacuation from the borders of the Gaza Strip, OCHA noted in a statement.

It added that many of them need surgery, which is currently impossible to perform in Gaza due to the complexity or lack of respective equipment and medicines.

The compulsory presence of these patients in hospitals creates an additional load for the already overburdened medical facilities in Gaza.
