Ukraine's allies should continue to supply it with ammunition in 2025, the prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Denmark, and the Netherlands said in a joint statement on Thursday, pledging during a meeting in Brussels to continue doing so on their own, Reuters reports.
This year, the Czech Republic led an initiative to buy ammunition for Kyiv with funds from NATO allies.
“The munitions initiative should be continued in 2025,” the three NATO leaders said. - Our countries are already finalizing further concrete projects to supply 155 mm caliber ammunition under the Initiative, as well as ammunition of other calibers on a bilateral basis.”
It is crucial for Kyiv's other allies to make quick decisions on the allocation of funds for ammunition procurement, they said.
“Only early indication and allocation of funding will ensure a stable and predictable flow of ammunition that will continue into the first months of 2025 so that Ukraine will be provided with sufficient stockpiles,” the joint statement said.
Earlier, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that the initiative to supply large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine would make it possible to achieve the goal of supplying half a million shells by the end of the year.
