The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia is hiding the maintenance costs of the Margara checkpoint on the border with Turkey, Sputnik Armenia reports.

Sputnik Armenia had sent a request to the SRC to find out how much the construction of the new Margara checkpoint cost and how much money was spent on its maintenance after the construction was completed.

Regarding the first question, the SRC informed that contracts were signed between the committee and a number of organizations for the construction of this customs checkpoint, and these contracts are publicized in the PPCM subsystem of the online procurement ARMEPS system.

"They include the cost of construction and assembly work, equipment and furniture, the cost of preparation of design and estimate documents, the cost of examination of design and estimate documents, the cost of quality technical and copyright control services for the execution of work," added the SRC.

However, it did not answer the main question: how much money was spent for the maintenance of the Margara checkpoint, which was ready since December 2023, but is not in use.

They simply informed that this checkpoint on the border with Turkey is ready for operation.

It was noted that the Armenian side expects positive signals from Turkey regarding reopening the border for citizens of third countries, as well as those with diplomatic passports.

The Armenia spent around 760 million drams (approx. US$2 million) for the modernization and re-equipment of the Margara checkpoint.
