Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements following a cabinet meeting and paid special attention to the situation in the South Caucasus, local media reported.

On October 18, Turkey received the foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran on the sidelines of a meeting of the 3+3 regional platform.

“We observe that this platform meets important needs. We seek to give it an institutional structure,” Erdogan said.

He said that after Azerbaijan's occupation of Karabakh, a “unique opportunity” has opened up to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

“We are closely following the sincere efforts of brotherly Azerbaijan and Armenia in this direction. This is an unprecedented period to achieve lasting peace. We will continue to work in coordination with our Azerbaijani brothers,” he emphasized.
