Incumbent Maia Sandu has won the runoff of the presidential elections in Moldova, according to the data of the country's Central Electoral Commission.

After counting 98.9 percent of the votes, Sandu has garnered 55 percent of the votes while her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, has 45 percent.

This will be Sandu's second presidential term.

But she won on the account of the voters abroad, as the Moldovan diaspora voted for her en masse.

But within Moldova, Stoianoglo won, with 51.2 percent.

Maia Sandu supports Moldova's westward path and membership in the European Union.

Alexandr Stoianoglo, on the other hand, enjoys the support of the pro-Russian opposition Socialist Party.
The voter turnout in Moldova's presidential runoff was 54.3 percent.
