YEREVAN. - A seminar-discussion on the Lustration bill took place in the hall of Civil National Initiative in Armenia.

The Lustration bill is a means against crimes that might threaten national security.

The Lustration bill concerns those persons who have cooperated with former Soviet and other countries’ secret services before September 21, 1991, and who currently occupy political and judicial high offices. Their identity will only be published in case they refuse to withdraw from their positions. In fact this is only partial lustration.

According to the bill, those officials who refuse to give information about their background or refuse to withdraw after being revealed will be charged with criminal responsibility.
