Analyzing US politics is a very ungrateful job. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this while speaking with reporters at the National Assembly of Armenia Wednesday—and addressing the question of what effect Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election Tuesday will have on the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.

"America is a state with its own agenda, with its powerful institutions. (…). Our [i.e. Armenia’s] priorities are to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey, to establish peace in Armenia, to ensure the continued economy, to ensure the well-being of the population, and to implement the Crossroads of Peace [project of Armenia]. Nothing will change with the rest of the parts.

Everything will remain as it is in Armenian-American relations, too. Armenian-American relations are warm, we are moving towards a strategic partnership; there is also a paper signed about it," said the Armenian minister of economy.
