The film entitled The Apprentice, which tells about the young years of former US president and current president-elect Donald Trump, will not be shown in Russia because the latter’s ministry of culture has not issued a respective lease license, informs this movie’s distributor in Russia, Atmosfera Kino, Kinopoisk reports. Its press screening scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled, too. The reasons, however, are not noted.

Initially, the Russian premiere of this film was supposed to be held on October 24, then it was moved to October 31, but within a week it was removed altogether from the schedule. As a result, they decided to screen the film on November 14, but the Ministry of Culture of Russia did not give the green light.

The film is based on The Apprentice, the TV show once hosted by Trump himself.

In October, the Moscow-based Arna Media company had acquired, from the Rocket Science agency of the UK, the right to distribute this movie in Russia.
