In the nine months of 2024, the amount of trade between Armenia and China has reached $2.08 billion, increasing by 34.7 percent. Chen Ming, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese embassy in Armenia, stated this while speaking with reporters Tuesday on the sidelines of a conference on Armenian-Chinese relations.

Chen added that China has been maintaining its position as one of Armenia's main trade partners for several years.

He noted that Armenia attaches importance to the development of high technology, and China has a number of advantages for collaborating with Armenia in this sector.

"We are happy to see electric vehicles that are imported from China to Armenia; this is just one sector. New sources of energy, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, digital economy, infrastructure [also] can become other prospective directions," he emphasized.

Also, Chen expressed confidence that the launch of direct flights and the liberalization of the visa regime between Armenia and China will provide new opportunities for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various domains, including culture.

"Armenian-Chinese relations are actively developing, and we are ready to continue efforts in that regard. Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the first time since 2019 within the framework of the BRICS summit [in Kazan, Russia recently]. The parties discussed matters of bilateral cooperation," the Chinese diplomat noted.
