The presidential elections in Georgia will probably be held in early January 2025, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said, Ekho Kavkaza reports.

"Everything [in Georgia] is peaceful and calm. The results of the [parliamentary] elections will be summed up. After that, the [first] session of the [new] parliament will be held on the tenth day. After that, the parliamentary life will begin, and soon, probably in early January, the presidential elections will be held. After that, the inauguration of the president will be held. The country continues life as normal, the implementation of many projects continues," Kobakhidze told reporters in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

For the first time in Georgia, its president will not be elected by the country's population, but by the Electoral College.

Incumbent President Salome Zourabichvili has announced that she may run for a second term. However, considering her opposition with the ruling Georgian Dream party, the latter will nominate another candidate for president.
