US President Joe Biden’s administration has authorized the use of its weapons up to 300 kilometers inside Russian territory, European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said.

According to him, the matter of the permission to use these weapons supplied by the US to the Ukrainian servicemen to strike deep into the territory of Russia was discussed at the meeting of the EU foreign ministers on Monday, reports BBC.

"It's [i.e. 300 kilometers] not that much by way of a distance. It's not a very long distance. It doesn't go deep into the country, but this is the decision by the [US] administration," said Borrell.

The EU foreign policy chief added, however, that he did not know why the White House made this decision after the presidential election and not before.

Also, emphasized that the EU foreign ministers did not make a joint decision to cancel the restrictions on the use of Western weapons in the territory of Russia.

Borrell highlighted that in the EU, each country makes its own decisions on the use of its weapons by Ukraine.
