Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani would like to develop a shared approach with allies regarding the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Stability depends on the unity of the Group of Seven [(G7)] countries. We have to show the strength of our democracies," Tajani said, Radio-1 reports.

The aforesaid arrest warrant will be discussed at the meeting of foreign ministers of the G7, by which Italy will conclude its chairmanship in this group.

The different approaches of the G7 member countries with the US, which does not accept the jurisdiction of the ICC, were noted. In particular, Washington doubts that it is possible to come to a final statement of the joint wording.

According to the Italian media, there are disagreements also within the governing coalition of Italy in this regard. Tajani had noted that consultations about the motivation are necessary, and that Rome recognizes and respects the decisions of the ICCC.
