Georgia Constitutional Court denies requests to cancel results of recent parliamentary election

The Constitutional Court of Georgia did not accept for consideration the requests by President Salome Zourabichvili and the opposition MPs to declare the results of the parliamentary election held on October 26 invalid.

The aforesaid decision of the plenum was posted on the website of the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.

Two judges—Teimuraz Tugushi  and Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze—expressed a conflicting opinion, Ekho Kavkaza reports.

"The decision is final and is not subject to appeal or review," added the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

On November 19, a lawsuit was submitted to the Constitutional Court on behalf of President Zourabichvili. The latter had stated that the principle of voter secrecy was violated during the aforesaid election and requested to declare the election results as unconstitutional.
