At least four people died on Wednesday night due to heavy snowfall in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, reports the Press Trust of India.

Travelers on snow-covered mountain roads near the tourist towns of Shimla and Manali have fallen victim to the bad weather.

Due to avalanche in Himachal Pradesh, power supply was interrupted in some localities and traffic was stopped on 225 highways, on which more than a thousand vehicles were piled up.

A total of 368 units of equipment are being used for road cleaning.

Rescuers have managed to evacuate more than 700 people who were stranded due to heavy snowfall.
