In Ethiopia, at least 60 people were killed when a truck carrying passengers fell into a river, the authorities of the southern Sidama region informed, Reuters reports.

The incident took place in the Bona district late Sunday evening, the regional communications bureau said in a statement.

"The survivors are now receiving treatment at the general profile hospital in Bona," the statement said.

The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the passengers were on their way to a wedding when the fatal accident occurred.
