A man is dead after a light aircraft crashed into crocodile infested waters in northern Australia, informed the police of the Northern Territory, reports the NT News newspaper.

According to law enforcement agencies, the plane crashed on Sunday at around 10:20am local time.

The aircraft crashed into Fogg Dam in Middle Point village, 60 kilometers northeast of Darwin.

The 63-year-old pilot and a 29-year-old female passenger were on the plane. The passenger was not injured.

The rescuers first took out the uninjured female passenger, and then the pilot's body from the wreckage of the plane.
