A quick investigation into the causes of the wildfires in California by Clinometer has found that man-made climate change has played a role in the devastating fires that are still raging in Los Angeles County, NBC News reports.

The report said meteorological conditions in the area affected by the fires have become 5°C warmer, 15 percent drier and 20 percent windier compared to last year.

“We attribute the increased winds, warmer temperatures, and drier conditions that caused the January 2025 California wildfires to anthropogenic climate change, and natural climate variability likely played a minor role,” the report said. Overall, California has experienced 15 of the 20 most destructive wildfires in the past 10 years, including the Palisades and Eaton fires.
