Iran's Armed Forces General Staff has rejected speculations about the causes of the helicopter crash that killed former President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage in May 2024, Tasnim reported.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Iran's Armed Forces General Staff rejected “allegations and irresponsible comments” made about the tragic crash.

It emphasized that baseless claims by various people in the virtual space that President Raisi was assassinated are untrue and were made out of ignorance, ineptitude or for certain purposes.

The statement referred to three official reports of the General Staff and emphasized that the crash was caused by the “difficult atmospheric and geographical conditions of the region” where the incident took place and rejected speculation of any technical malfunction, sabotage, terrorist attack, explosion or electronic warfare.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and six others were killed when their helicopter crashed in the mountains and caught fire on May 19, 2024.
