A discussion was held in the Turkish capital Ankara on the impact of the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish border on the economy of Kars Province of Turkey, according to the BHA news agency of the country.

The event brought together the Turkish foreign ministry representatives; Serdar Kilic, Turkey’s special representative for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations; the chairman of the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several other Turkish officials

During the meeting, Serdar Kilic presented to the discussants the results of the process of normalizing of Armenian-Turkish relations, emphasizing that the reopening of Turkey’s borders with Armenia will have an important impact on both Kars Province and entire Turkey.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kadir Bozan, noted that they are closely following the developments in Turkey-Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, stressing that after the resolution of the respective matter, the reopening of Turkey’s borders with Armenia will have a great impact not only on the socioeconomic life in Kars and the region, but also in entire Turkey. Bozan claimed that with the reopening of this border, the unemployment rate will drop and the economy will begin to grow rapidly in Kars.
