The US must first buy Iran's confidence in order to resume talks on Iran's nuclear program, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said, Sky News reports.

"The situation is different and much more difficult than the previous time," Araghchi said in an interview with Sky News. "Lots of things should be done by the other side [i.e. the US] to buy our confidence… We haven't heard anything but the 'nice' word, and this is obviously not enough."

According to him, the Iranian authorities are ready to listen to the proposals of new US President Donald Trump, but more efforts will be needed to convince Tehran to start negotiations on a new nuclear agreement, especially given the fate of the 2015 nuclear deal—the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
