A plane carrying 64 people has collided with a US military Black Hawk helicopter nearby Reagan National Airport near Washington DC, CNN reports.

The plane was approaching the runway, officials with the US Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Defense said.

According to the Washington Police Department, there are no confirmed casualties at this time.

All takeoffs and landings have been suspended at Reagan National Airport.
