Sports agent Ari Zakarian told RIA Novosti that figure skaters and former Russian coaches also were on the plane that crashed in Washington, D.C.
Media outlets report that the Russian national figure skating team's former world champions in pair figure skating, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, and their son Maksim also were on this plane. The boy was participating in the US championships, from where the figure skating team was returning.
There were at least 14 figure skaters, not counting the coaches, on board the plane, American figure skater Jon Maravilla told RIA Novosti.
He wouldn't give names, but there were about 14 skaters on the plane, not counting their parents and several coaches, Maravilla said, adding that this was such a tragedy.
US authorities say no one survived the plane crash.
