MOSCOW.- The people of Karabakh always feel the support of compatriots living abroad, President of Nagorno-Karabakh Bako Sahakyan said speaking in the Armenian Embassy in Moscow.

President Sahakyan delivered a speech at the ceremony awarding for considerable contribution to development of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports.

“September 2, 1991, is a historic day not only for Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh], but also the entire Armenian nation,” Bako Sahakyan said, adding that the Declaration of Independence of Nagorno-Karabakh became the basis for the restoration of Armenian independence and historical justice.

Dividing the history of formation of the Karabakh state into three stages - beginning of the struggle, the stage of war imposed by Azerbaijan and the country’s recovery - Bako Sahakyan stressed that the people of Karabakh always felt the support from their compatriots living overseas, “especially those living in the Russian Federation.”

According to Sahakyan, assistance of compatriots encourages the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to take new steps to achieve progress on the problems, which are unsolved yet.

“Our goal is to build a country, the visit to which will make everyone proud,” he concluded.
