Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has unveiled a new underground base housing cruise missiles designed to target destroyers in strategic southern waters, Mehr reported.

On Saturday, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Major General Hossein Salami visited the “missile city” on Iran's southern coast. During the visit, Salami inspected the combat readiness of IRGC Navy missile units at the new facility.

The modernized missiles stationed at the underground base are also equipped with electronic warfare facilities and can be put into operation as soon as possible.

This is the third underground missile base opened by the IRGC in less than a month.

On January 18, the IRGC Navy demonstrated an underground naval missile base at an undisclosed location in the Persian Gulf. Earlier on January 10, the IRGC Air and Space Forces discovered another underground missile city.

Iran says its ballistic missiles are an important deterrent against the U.S. and Israel, insisting that its missile program is non-negotiable.
