Iran has expressed its consent to the opening of the Armenian Consulate General in Tabriz. Iranian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani stated this at a meeting with journalists on February 6.

“As far as I know, Armenia has rented a building in Tabriz and we are waiting for the Consulate General to start its work. There are no obstacles or problems from our country.

The opening of the consulate will contribute to the development of our relations,” he noted.

Iranian Consulate General was opened in Kapan in October 2022, at the same time Armenia's readiness to open a Consulate General in Tabriz was expressed.
