The United States could buy the Gaza Strip, take control of it, and then rebuild it with the help of Arab countries. US President Donald Trump once again said this while talking to reporters aboard Air Force One, reports AP.
“I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it; other people may do it, through our auspices,” Trump said. “But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back.”
He was referring to his plan to permanently relocate all of Gaza’s population and rebuild the Strip to create “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
“There’s nothing to move back into. The place is a demolition site. The remainder will be demolished. Everything’s demolished,” he said.
The US president is pushing for the forcible removal of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza. Trump is convinced that the Palestinians would leave Gaza if they had the choice.
