The office of BBC News Azerbaijani in the capital city of Baku is closing, the BBC said in a statement on Thursday, APA reports.

It was reported in the statement on Thursday that the BBC had made the decision to close its office in Azerbaijan after receiving a verbal instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The BBC's Azerbaijani service has been operating since 1994—first on air, and then online.
