US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Russia is a global nuclear power and the US should have some contact with it.

"We ultimately have to be able to talk to a nation that has, in some cases, the largest tactical nuclear weapons stockpile in the world and the second largest, if not the largest, strategic nuclear weapons stockpile in the world," Rubio said in an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, publicized on Thursday.

"We have to have some communication with them," added the US Secretary of State.
