Azerbaijan will soon receive the first batch of JF-17 Thunder fighters from Pakistan, Azerbaijani media reported.

It is noted that this was announced by Pakistani Information Minister Atta Tarar.

“Azerbaijan will soon receive the first batch of JF-17 Thunder fighters from Pakistan, and their joint production is possible in the future,” Tarar said.

According to Azerbaijani media, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, participating in the Pakistani-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on February 24 together with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, spoke about the “importance of strengthening defense cooperation” between the two countries.

According to him, JF-17 fighters are another expensive product on which Pakistan and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating.

It was previously reported that the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry signed a contract with the Pakistani aviation complex for the purchase of such fighters. According to them, the contract is worth $1.6 billion, and also includes the supply of ammunition and pilot training.

The JF-17C (Block III) is the latest modification of this type of fighter. The aircraft can carry 8 missiles of various types, has modern radars and an electronic defense system.
