Police have shot and killed a man armed with knives in a Paris suburb, BFMTV television reports.

The incident took place in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis.

The man, armed with two knives, was at a bus stop. And when the police approached him, this unidentified man attacked them.

One of the officers tried to use a stun gun, but it had no effect on the attacker, and therefore another officer fired with his service weapon.

The attacker died from the gunshot wounds he sustained.

The causes of this incident are being investigated.
