Various Turkish officials continue to demand the opening of the “Zangezur corridor” via Armenia.

This demand was voiced this time by Yakub Sefer, the Chief Commercial Counselor of the Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan.

“Currently, the most important issue is the opening of the Zangazur [i.e. Zangezur] corridor,” Sefer said, APA reports.

He said that the opening of this “corridor” will have a significant impact on transit shipments and the expansion of trade relations.

"In this regard, the Alat economic zone is very important, and the region will become a logistics center. However, it is necessary to improve the port infrastructure in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in order to strengthen the infrastructure of the corridor. Another issue is the renewal of the roll-on/roll-off ships at the Alat port. The ships currently in use are very old," Yakub Sefer added.

Earlier, the same idea was voiced by Turkish vice president Cevdet Yilmaz.

It is noteworthy that in all cases, Turkey completely ignores the territorial belonging of Armenia’s "corridor." In no case is there any mention of Armenia at all.
